Rivalry between the GGR and Maha gangs lead to occasional skirmishes. Gokul and Tamil, sons of the late GG Ravi were sitting and talking inside a car when two men on bike rode past and threw a petrol bomb on the car. It caught fire and both Tamil and Gokul had to break open the windows to escape.

They then returned to the same area with some of their gangmen to find 30 members of the rival Maha gang awaiting them with bottles and clubs.

When Maha members started throwing bottles at them, Tamil and Gokul ran to a house nearby which belonged to a doctor from CMC and locked themselves inside. Pursuing them, Maha henchmen pushed aside the security guard and started beatingon the door.

Meanwhile the security guard alerted the Vellore north police who rushed to the spot. On seeing the police, the assailants tried to flee, but four of them were caught. The police are questioning them, but no arrests have been made so far.
