Jothimani was accompanied by former minister V Senthil Balaji. She had been allotted time between 12 noon and 1 pm to file her papers, she came to the nomination filing venue in Karur around 12.30 pm, and attempted to enter the Collector’s chamber to file her nomination.

However, police led by Kulithalai DSP Sukumar stopped Senthil Balaji and Jothimani from entering the venue, as Thambidurai still had not come out by then after filing his papers.

This led to a verbal altercation between Senthil Balaji and Jothimani and the police. Senthil Balaji and Jothimani also raised slogans against the police and claimed the cops were acting as agents of Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.

Senthil Balaji and Jothimani were later allowed in after Thambidurai exited the Collector’s chamber after filing his papers.

“We have lodged a complaint with the Electoral Officer against the police and he has assured us action would be taken. The AIADMK is afraid of the DMK front and so they have been trying to undermine us”, Jothimani said.

Senthil Balaji claimed that Jothimani would win by a margin of at least two lakh votes. Earlier, Thambidurai told reporters his victory is all but certain.
