In the wee hours of Wednesday, police officers were alerted that there has been a robbery attempt in one of the KVB ATM kiosks in Uppiliyapuram. On information, the police rushed to the spot and found that the main lock and monitor lock of the machine were left unlocked, but there was no trace of damage to the machine.
While questioning the bank officials about the incident, it was found that the bank had installed a new ATM machine recently next to old one in the same kiosk.
On Tuesday afternoon, officials from the bank cleared the cash from the old machine and handed it over to the bank at 3 pm on the same day. After taking the cash out, the officials did not close the machine properly. The police inspected the CCTV footage and confirmed the same. They also ruled out the possibility of burglary.
