Disqualify Kathir Anand, AIADMK petitions EC
The ruling AIADMK on Tuesday submitted a petition to Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Satyabrata Sahoo urging the Election Commission (EC) to disqualify Kathir Anand, who is the DMK candidate for Vellore Lok Sabha constituency.

In the petition, AIADMK advocate Babu Muragavel alleged that Anand’s relatives had stocked cash to bribe voters ahead of the April 18 election. The Income Tax officials had conducted a raid on the residences of Anand’s father DMK treasurer Duraimurugan and his associates. They had reportedly seized substantial amount of money from the premises.
Stating that the police should identify the trail of the money that has been seized, Murugavel said the EC should disqualify the DMK candidate.
In another complaint to the CEO, Murugavel alleged that the opposition DMK was misusing the 108-ambulance service to transport cash to various places. The registration numbers of all ambulances should be informed to the poll officials and flying squads to prevent any illegal activity, he said. He also urged the public election department to serve notice on DMK leader M K Stalin for conducting a public meeting in the afternoon hours. This is in violation of the guidelines issued by the EC, Murugavel said
