Flying squad seizes 47 kg gold in Madurai

Sources said the gold ornaments were found in several boxes in the car and since its driver could not produce a valid supporting document, the ornaments were seized and taken to Madurai Collectorate.

After the formal procedures, the ornaments were kept in the Sub Treasury office of Madurai North, they said. It was the third time in the recent past that gold ornaments were seized by flying squads across Madurai.

Flying squad teams and Static surveillance teams have been deployed at various places ahead of the Lok Sabha elections for round-the-clock surveillance and to prevent any distribution of money to voters, sources said.
