There was reportedly a blast in the pipeline at Keezha Erukkattur in Tiruvarur and the crude oil started to gush through the field. The cotton crops cultivated by farmer Selvaraj in the land were damaged due to the leakage. While the blast happened on Saturday morning, the crude oil gushing out increased as time passed by. Soon, Selvaraj along with a few farmers alerted the ONGC officials, who held an inspection.

Meanwhile, people and farmers gathered in the spot and raised slogans against the ONGC. On information, the revenue officials also rushed to the spot and held talks with the agitating farmers. The officials and technicians conducted a thorough inspection and tried to stop the leakage. The officials said that the leakage would be plugged soon.
