The woman was found dead with a nylon rope and a scissor near her on April 4. On receiving information, the Karamadai police went to the spot, recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem examination to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH).

In order to trace the identity of the woman, the police sent her photographs to all the police stations to match her details with women missing cases. It was then found that a woman missing complaint was filed in the Peelamedu police station.

She was then identified as Valarmathi (43), wife of Marimuthu from Gandhi Nagar, Hudco Colony in Peelamedu. On April 3, Marimuthu had dropped his wife at the Peelamedu bus stop and left for work.

As she did not return home, Marimuthu searched in the neighbourhood and lodged a complaint with the Peelamedu police on the same day.

The missing woman was found dead in Karamadai the next day. The police are investigating to find out how the woman reached the hills. “We are probing if she was kidnapped by someone and murdered,” said a police officer.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased was handed over to family members after the post-mortem examination on Sunday. The deceased woman is survived by her husband and three girl children.

This is the second incident of a missing woman getting murdered as a college student, who went missing, was founddead in Pollachi onSaturday.
