Rs 50L seized in I-T raids in Karur
The Income Tax officials on Thursday seized Rs 50 lakh from the house of an AIADMK functionary, who has been alleged involved in election works of Karur candidate and Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai.

On Thursday around 5.30 am, a team of 15 I-T officials from Tiruchy went to the house of Sethu, Vaiyyampatti union secretary, and searched the house. They found bundles of cash stocked in the almirah and seized it. Sethu and his wife Kalpana, who is also an ex-union chairperson of Vaiyyampatti, had reportedly told the officials that the money was from their contract work and were about to deposit in the bank. However, the officials, who were not satisfied, asked for the documents to support their claims, but the couple could not produce it. Subsequently, the officials seized the money.
Meanwhile, the I-T officials raided the house of the chairman of NSN College, Selvam and his office and other establishments. Selvam is also said to be close to Thambidurai.
Gold, silver in Chennai
The teams in Chennai district have seized a whopping 140 kg of gold and 191 kg of silver.
The seizures were effected till April 10. The officials had also seized Rs 6.54 crore in cash.
