Pollachi echo: Two students held for blackmailing minor

Sources said the 17-year-old girl was in a relationship with one of the two youths, now an engineering student whom she knew from her school days. Recently, he invited her to his house in Pallikaranai when his parents were away. What she did not know was that his friend, a 19-year-old, also an engineering student, was hiding in the house. The second youth secretly recorded the intimate moments between his friend and the girl.

They first threatened her to have physical relationship with the second person, and then sought a huge sum of money. If she failed to accede to their demands, her photographs and videos would be spread on social media, the duo blackmailed.

After being harassed by the youth, the girl finally gathered courage and informed her parents about the incident, who in turn approached the All-Women Police Station in their jurisdiction. After investigation, a police team from the station arrested the two. As the girl is a minor, they were charged under Pocso Act and were remanded in judicial custody.
