“Some people are asking why am I continuing to act in cinemas and shows like Big Boss? To do these things (political activities) you need money. I will not take from you,” Kamal said while campaigning at Red Hills for his party’s Tiruvallur Parliamentary seat candidate Dr Logarangan.

He said that he entered politics with lot of anger like the people are frustrated with other political parties in the state.

He said that he should have come early and apologised for his late entry into politics. “But I will do the amends by working hard to make for the time lost,” he declared.

Hitting out at his detractors, he said that the people gathered here to hear what he says and not came just to see him. “If they wanted to see me, they could have bought tickets in an AC theatre to watch him even dance. They need not come and stand in the hot sun. They came here for the better future. Hence, I urge you to go and vote on April 18 keeping this in mind,” he said.

Taking a swipe at AIADMK Minister Sellur K Raju for equating him with buffalo, he said that some leader had even forgot that their party itself was founded by an actor and they equate an actor to buffalo.

“But the buffaloes are elsewhere and they need to be washed by you. I am not calling anyone as buffalo. I know buffaloes are useful animal and I have respect for them. If they mistook me, I will apologise to honourable buffaloes,” he said.

Later at campaigning in Thoothukudi, Kamal, who was accompanied by the family members of the victims of police firing in the anti-Sterlite protest, equated the police firing on May 22 last year when 13 people were killed to Jallianwala Bagh incident.

“This is worse than the Jallianwala Bagh. The person who ordered the shooting, those who were shot at and those who shot the people were Tamils. The policemen are still troubling them because they have been reduced to ‘eval thurai,’” he said, adding that the government is asking us to be happy that the victim count is just 13 instead of a thousand.

“What should we do with this government? Remove them from power. We must ensure they never step foot into TN again,” he said, noting that one Kazhagam gave permission for the plant other gave the permission to shoot.

Vanitha, mother of victim J Snowlin (17), said that instead of printing the wedding invitation for her daughter, they are printing the invitation for her first-year death anniversary. “Almost a year has passed and neither the state nor the Union government have expressed their condolences,” she noted.
