Addressing reporters, Balu, said, “Thirumavalavan clearly knows that he will not win in Chidambaram constituency and so is finding reasons for his loss. His allegations against PMK for Ponparappi violence are baseless and this is not the first time that Thirumavalavan is doing it.”

The VCK along with Opposition parties and independent organisations have blamed the PMK for instigating violence in Ponparappi village, in Ariyalur district, on the day of elections, on April 18. Social media users also targeted the PMK and its leaders for the violence.

PMK with an intention to clarify their stand on the violence addressed the media in Chennai. In the press meet, Balu, said, “PMK had been targeted in Ilavarasan murder case in Dharmapuri and in Naveena incident in Villupuram district, but in both the cases it was proved that the PMK had no hand in it. Yet Thirumavalavan and other Opposition parties targeted us.”

He also blamed the DMK for flaring up tension in Ponparappi village. “The DMK has been flaring up violence against the PMK since the Dharmapuri incident. Even if Thirumavalavan goes soft, the DMK will not allow him to do so and will make him speak against the PMK.”

Citing the complaint filed by a cameraman of a private Tamil news channel, Balu said that the VCK cadres and functionaries attacked the cameraman. He further added that the party has proof that VCK were involved in violence and abused the women of Vanniyar community. He said that PMK is not against VCK and does not want to create tension.
