DMK ex-MP Vasanthi Stanley passes away
Former DMK Rajya Sabha MP Vasanthi Stanley on Sunday breathed her last following a brief illness.

She was 56. Vasanthi Stanley, who was being treated in a private hospital for illness, was the leader of the party monitories wing. She was the member of the upper house of the Parliament from 2008-14, Stanley was part of several Parliamentary committees then.
DMK president MK Stalin paid floral tributes to the deceased MP at her residence in Lloyds Colony. Speaking to reporters after expressing his condolences to the bereaved family members of the late MP, Stalin said, “I was deeply shocked when I heard about her death. She had worked in revenue and commercial taxes departments when she was attracted to DMK principles and inspired by our leader M Karunanidhi.”
“She had served as deputy president of Women’s Wing and minorities wing. She was a poet, writer and excellent orator. She was dedicated to the campaign of the party,” Stalin added, calling her a DMK warrior whose demise was a loss not only to her family but also to the party.
“Her dedication, hard work and discipline will be etched in the memory of every cadre in the party,” Stalin said.
