Last minute rush in Aravakurichi, 42 file papers
There was a last minute rush in the filing of nominations for Aravakurichi bypolls on Monday, the last day, as many as 42 candidates filed their papers, with them, there are 83 candidates in fray for the segment.

Among them, AIADMK candidate VV Senthilnathan, who filed his papers after conducting a mega rally, said that he would win with a margin of at least 50,000 votes.
While there were as many as 41 candidates, including DMK’s V Senthil Balaji filed their papers till April 26, on Monday, the Aravakurichi Taluk office was rather busy as candidates formed a beeline in the office from the morning. At around 11 am, as many as 10 independent candidates were present and they were issued tokens to submit their nominations to the Returning officer Meenakshi. When the Naam Tamilar Katchi candidate PK Selvan along with a dummy candidate arrived there, police stopped them at the entrance. This, however, resulted in ruckus and there was a heated arguments.
After a while, the AIADMK candidate VV Senthilnathan along with Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker and Karur Lok Sabha candidate M Thambidurai and Transport Minister MR Vijayabaskar arrived at the office. At the time, Desiya Makkal Sakthi candidate Senthil Murugan (42) who said that the heavy traffic resulted out of the AIADMK rally made him to brave it to reach the RO office, tied a cloth around his mouth in protest.
Subsequently, the AMMK candidate Shahul Hameed and MNM candidate Mohan Raj and other independent candidates filed their papers.
