2 Thiruchendhur temple staff suspended

The age-old peacock idol was placed back 15 days after the theft. It was taken away in August 2017. The probe revealed a ploy to smuggle the idol.

Temple supervisors Padmanabhan and Maniam Subbaiyyan were suspended for intentional omission of information of the alleged peacock idol replacement in Thiruchendur Subrahmanya Swamy temple. The case was probed by the Idol wing.

The age-old peacock idol was placed back 15 days after the theft. It was taken away in August 2017. The probe revealed a ploy to smuggle the idol. 

Adding to the probe, four more employees are under scanner. Thirumeni employees Swaminathan, Raja, Kaingarya sabha members Kumar and Suresh are being questioned under IPC 120 B, 457(2), 406, 109, 202 and 217.
