‘Work from home’ Tiruchy inspector caught during routine check by SP
Lazy police officers on the silver screen have always been part of the slapstick genre and have inevitably managed to raise quite a few laughs.

This particular feature, however, recently found its parallel in rural Tiruchy, when a police inspector in charge of a station, who preferred staying home instead of reporting for duty, was ‘caught napping’ when the SP went to the station for inspection on Friday, and transferred the entire team to Armed Reserve unit.
Michael Rayappan of Ponmalaipatti was been serving the inspector of Manachanallur, around 30 km away from Tiruchy. However, the inspector would rarely be found in the police station. He would often leave for home at lunch, take a nap and would not return till late evening. On Thursday afternoon, following his usual routine, the inspector went home for lunch and did not return for long time. While he was away, the Superintendent of Police Zia-Ul-Haq went for rounds in Manachanallur and when he found the inspector missing, he contacted him on walkie talkie and asked where he was. Rayappan, replied that he was at Manachanallur, and when the SP asked himspecially where he was, he responded saying he was at thepolice station.
To make matters worse, when the SP went to the police station looking for the inspector, he asked the cops there on walkie talkie where their inspector was. Sub-inspector Ayyappan and head cops Vijayaraghavan, Raja and Sathish kept telling the SP that Rayappan was in different locations. The irate SP realised that the entire 5-member team was slacking off and transferred all of them. Unfortunately, Rayappan only found out later when he sauntered back to the station and realized what had happened.
