Not a single student from 6 Anna Univ colleges cleared BE, BTech exams

Statistics from the office of the controller of examination of the university revealed that students of six colleges of its affiliated colleges failed to clear the examination.

Also, the pass percentage of many other institutions too close to zero, with the students who appeared for the exams having failed in at least one exam. The exams were held in December 2018 and which theresults were announced in March this year.

The data of the Anna University further revealed that one college each from Ariyalur, Thanjavur, Dindigul, Kanyakumari, Perambalur, and Coimbatore failed to get a pass percentage. According to the report, more than 80 affiliated and non-autonomous colleges under the university have registered less than 10 per cent pass percentage.

In the case of a private collegein Thanjavur, of the 1,267 studentswho took the exams, only 24 candidates secured pass marks with an overall pass percentage of just 1.89 per cent only. According to the regulations of Anna University, the decision ongrant of affiliation to an academic programme will be made by the Vice-Chancellor after taking into consideration the recommendations of the standing committee on affiliation.

On receipt of the application from the college for affiliation, for each of the academic programmes satisfying the pre-requisite such as infrastructure facilities including adequate classrooms, professors, libraries, playing ground, toilet facilities among others for applying for affiliation, an inspection committee would be constituted to inspect and submit a report to the University.

The affiliation granted to any academic programmes in a college will be suspended or withdrawn if the college fails to comply with the provisions made in this behalf or if it fails to observe or implement any of the conditions ofaffiliation, or has conducted in a manner which is prejudicial to the interests of university education and students.
