Tamilisai tried to join Congress, claims Selvaperunthagai
Even as the DMK and the BJP were engaged in a controversy over who spoke to whom for alliance, the state Congress dropped a bombshell against state BJP president Tamilisai Soundararajan, accusing her of attempting to join them. SC/ST wing president of Tamil Nadu Congress K Selvaperunthagai has claimed that Tamilisai had attempted to join the Congress party.

Participating in a TV talk show, he said the state BJP president had told his colleagues at Sathyamurthy Bhavan when she turned up to invite for her son’s wedding that Congress was her parent party and she would come any time.
Speaking to DT Next, Selvaperunthagai said, “I was there at Satyamurthy Bhavan. She had come to invite our leaders. I was happy as well as surprised. She said it is my thai veedu (mother’s place). I will come any time.”
“Some friends (Congress) in New Delhi told me that there is a chance of her joining Congress,” he said, quoting the state BJP chief as saying that she would join the Congress in future. “My party colleagues in New Delhi told me that she took some steps. Her efforts did not materialise,” he added, admitting that he would reveal the identity of who shared the information if she insists.
“He is doing it to garner media attention. It is surprising that he (Selvam) knows something even his state president or EVKS do not. Tamilisai made a statement about Stalin speaking to our leaders, So, he is making such ridiculous charge against her,” Karu Nagarajan, state secretary of BJP said. Attempts to contact Tamilisai proved futile.
