AIADMK, AMMK make similar appeal to voters

With less than 24 hours to go for polling to four bypoll-bound Assembly seats in the state, the ruling AIADMK and the rebel AMMK appealed to the public seeking their votes. Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on Friday in a letter to public urged them to vote for the ruling AIADMK.

The rebel AMMK leader TTV Dhinakaran also wrote a letter to his party workers and urged them to intensify their poll works, so that both the Centre and the state governments are sent home on May 23, when the votes are counted.

AMMK general secretary also appreciated the cadre for fighting against the state and Centre. The RK Nagar MLA claimed that the AMMK was spearheading against the other parties in terms of a public campaign and said that the poll works in the upcoming bypolls are crucial for the party.

Dhinakaran reiterated that the efforts of the Speaker to disqualify a few MLAs have been thwarted through judicial intervention and told the cadre that the supporters of late AIADMK leader Jayalalithaa were with AMMK. Interestingly, both AMMK and AIADMK in their letters claimed that they were following in the footsteps of late AIADMK leader Jayalalithaa and will continue to do so to protect the interests of Tamils.
