Justice S Vaidyanathan before whom the plea moved by the girl’s father had come up, said, “Considering the submissions made, this court directs the respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner’s daughter and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law within a period of one week.”

The petitioner S Srinivasan had submitted that while applying for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) 2019 (NEET) for admission in MBBS/BDS course online, his daughter Manasa Manthra had inadvertently registered the category as UR though she belongs to BC category.

He further submitted that the said mistake was found by her only when she received the admit card. Thereafter, she made a representation on April 20 requesting them the change the category from UR to BC. Since no action has been taken on the said representation, he had no choice but to move the court.

However, during the hearing, the counsel appearing for the Medical Counselling Committee submitted that necessary action would be taken on the representation of the petitioner’s daughter at the earliest.
