Stepfather kills minor for aversion to sports

According to police, Nithya Kamala (36) married Muthu Pandian after getting a divorce from her husband in 2014. The deceased girl was born to Nithya from her first marriage.

It was initially reported that Nithya had hit her child and made the latter to stand outside under the sun for watching TV.

The girl, who fell unconscious, was rushed to the local GH and later referred to the Namakkal GH. Since she was in a critical condition, the girl was taken to the Salem GH but died on the way.

Following an initial inquiry, a special team arrested Nithya and interrogated her. However, she revealed that Muthu Pandian was upset with her daughter for lacking interest in sports. He then brutally thrashed the girl and made her stand under the sun for long hours as a punishment.

Based on Nithya’s statement and medical reports, the special team filed a murder case against Muthu Pandian and arrested him on Tuesday.
