85th Garuda Seva organised in Thanjavur

On account of the 85th Garuda Seva organised by the Thanjavur palace devasthanam and Sri Ramanuja Dharshana sabha, the procession of deities mounted on a Garuda from 24 Vaishnavite temples in Thanjavur was carried out on Saturday.

The deities from all the 24 temples in the district were assembled at Kodimarathumoolai in the erstwhile fortified town in the morning and they were later taken in procession through the main thoroughfares of East Main Street, South Main Street, West Main Street and North Main Street and later came back to Kodimarathumoolai before being taken into their respective temples.


Hundreds of devotees who assembled in the four main streets had dharshan and offered special pooja.


Earlier, at the Narashimha Perumal temple at Vennatrankaran, the ritual of Mangalasasanam by Nammalvar was held.


On Sunday, the procession of deities from 15 Vaishnava temples would be held through the main streets as part of Navaneedha Sevai.
