Days after polls, DGP Ashutosh Shukla sent to the boondocks

Within days after the election process formally got over, senior officer Ashutosh Shukla, who as the DGP (Elections) was heading the police force on all poll-related works, has been shunted out as the special officer at the refugee camp in Mandapam, widely considered to be a post reserved for those whom the establishment considers unfavourable.

Among the 19 officers including senior officers who were reshuffled on Friday were K Jayanth Murali, presently the director of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption who was posted as the new Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order); Abash Kumar, ADGP (crimes), who was moved as head of Prisons; and DVAC joint director S Murugan, who was transferred and posted as the IG in charge of the Economic Offences Wing.  

5 DGPs, 9 ADGPs figure in IPS reshuffle 

Sangaram Jangid, the senior police officer who had taken up the cause of cadre officers being appointed in non-cadre posts, was moved from being the chief vigilance officer of the Metropolitan Transport Corporation, Chennai, to the newly created post of chief vigilance officer, State Transport Corporation in Kumbakonam.

He was among the senior officers whose names figured in the fresh round of reshuffle on Friday, a list that had five DGP rank officials and nine ADGPs.

Vijay Kumar, special DGP (Law & Order), has been posted as the new director of DVAC, while Karan Singha, DGP (Traffic and Road Safety), has been posted as DGP (State Crime Records Bureau). The latter replaces ADGP Seema Agrawal, who has been made the ADGP (headquarters). ADGP M Ravi, who was occupying that post has been posted as the ADGP in charge of the recently formed wing, Crime against Women and Children, in place of Su Arunachlam, who attained superannuation on Friday.

N Tamil Selvan, DGP (Technical Services), has been posted as DGP (Vigilance) at TANGEDCO. Ashok Kumar Das, ADGP (SID), will replace him. Mohammed Shakeel Akther, ADGP (Armed Police), has been posted as the new ADGP (Crimes).

ADGP Sandeep Rai Rathore, who was heading STF, Erode, has been posted as the member of TNUSRB, Chennai, in the place of ADGP Sunil Kumar, who has been posted as chief vigilance officer, TNCMPF (Aavin), Chennai. From Aavin, ADGP Shankar Jiwal has been asked to assume charge as ADGP (Armed Police).

IG NK Senthanrai Kannan, who was on compulsory wait after being shunted out of TNUSRB, has been posted as IG (Headquarters) while IG Pramod Kumar, special officer, Refugee Camp, has been made IG (Traffic and Road Safety).

SP S Rajeswari was moved from CB-CID to Idol Wing, while H Jayalakshmi, SP (CCIW), will be the first DC for newly created Crime Against Women and Children wing, in Chennai.
