A resolution to this effect was adopted at the state committee meeting of the Marxist party in which party general secretary Sitaram Yechury was present.

In a resolution, the CPM said that Kasturirangan Committee’s draft education policy is part of the Narendra Modi government’s effort to enforce the BJP and the RSS agenda to impose Hindi and the Sanskrit across the country.

“It has several recommendations that will affect the plurality and integrity of India and public education. The implementation of the three-language formula is nothing, but imposition and it goes against the federalism,” it said.

It said that when the demands were being made to bring the education to the state subject, there were several recommendations that lead to usurping of the state rights. “It has proposals to implement the Hindutva ideology,” it said, adding that the 30-day time to give suggestion would be inadequate.

“The policy should be translated into all the languages and given at least six months’ time to provide their response,” it said.

On Cauvery issue, the Marxist party’s other resolution urged the state to take all the steps to get 9.2 TMC from Karnataka as per the Cauvery Water Management Authority. “The CWMA has directed the Karnataka to release 9.2 TMC by the end of this month. But the Karnataka government has expressed its opposition to the direction,” it said, adding that farmers and agricultural workers were

severely affected by the unavailability of the water.

Besides, the people were badly affected by the drought, it added.
