Addressing the media, Prabhu, Kallakurichi MLA, said, “I was not invited for the meeting. Though I have clarified that I am not with the AMMK, invitation was not sent to me.”

There were reports that three MLAs, Prabhu, Kalaichelvan, Viruddhachalam MLA and Rathinasabapathy, Aranthangi MLA, were given posts in the AMMK and they worked for AMMK in the recently conducted Lok Sabha elections. Following the reports, Speaker P Dhanapal, issued notice to three MLAs stating that the three MLAs were involved in anti-party activities.

When action is waiting on them, the party did not invite the three MLAs for the meeting despite they clarified that they have no connection with the AMMK.

After knowing that they were not invited for the meeting, the three MLAs joined the chorus of single leadership demand for the party. Prabhu said, “Party cadre feel that there is no proper leadership in the party. Single leader with strong leadership qualities is required for the party.”

Similarly, Kalaichelvan also voiced for single leadership in the party and blamed the absence of strong leadership for the recent loss in the Lok Sabha elections. “Absence of a strong and unified leadership is the reason for the party’s loss in the Lok Sabha elections. The vote share dipped to a record low percentage due to the absence of single leadership,” said Kalaichelvan.

He also said that the party supporters and voters are now looking forward for a single leadership in the party.

Though AIADMK leadership suppressed the dissenting voices from Madurai North MLA Rajan Chellappa and Kunnam MLA KT Ramachandran, through statements and passing instructions in the meeting, the three MLAs have now started to voice for single leadership.
