After Jagan’s idea, call for more Deputy CMs in TN
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s five-deputy chief minister policy has inspired a few caste groups here to make a bid for deputy CM post. Posters have sprung up in the city urging the ruling AIADMK to emulate its Andhra counterpart and allot a deputy CM post to the community.

A group, identifying as Nadar Mahajana Sabai, has stuck posters in both Lloyds Road and Teynampet, apparently, attempting to communicate their demand to both the ruling and principal opposition party. One such poster of the group stuck in the city described the community as second largest in the state and demanded three ministers plus a deputy chief minister’s post. Claiming that two communities have been allotted nine and six ministerial berths each in the state, KSM Karthikeyan of Nadar Mahajana Sabai told DT Next that Nadars were the second largest community, but they have not been adequately represented.
“Jagan has made members of five backward communities deputy chief ministers. Tamil Nadu is a cradle of social justice. If the rulers are really committed to social justice, they should appoint a member of Nadar community as deputy chief minister and allot a few ministerial berths,” Karthikeyan added. However, the demand has not drawn the attention of the prominent groups representing the community in the state which already has an erstwhile CM occupying the post of deputy Chief Minister.
