Heavy penalty to be imposed on violators of plastic ban in TN from Monday

Carrying, saving or providing of banned plastic products is a legal offence and a fine amount of Rs 1 lakh will be collected for the first offence and over Rs 2 lakh for successive attempts will be collected.

Heavy penalty will be imposed over plastic ban violators in Tamil Nadu from Monday. Following the plastic ban in Tamil Nadu since January, penalty for the usage of banned plastic products usage will be collected from Monday, according to an order by the Tamil Nadu government. 

Despite the ban of several plastic products in the state, vendors and civilians have been using the banned plastic products for commercial and other purposes.

This penalty imposition is believed to end the illegal usage of plastic. Fine amount of Rs 2 lakh will be collected from the plastic bag manufacturers for the first time if they are held, and over Rs 5 lakh will be fined for successive acts.

Carrying, saving or providing of banned plastic products is a legal offence and a fine amount of Rs 1 lakh will be collected for the first offence and over Rs 2 lakh for successive attempts will be collected.

Sales and distribution of banned plastic products will be an offence and a fine of Rs 50,000 will be collected for the first time and over Rs 1 lakh for successive offences. Commercial usage of banned plastic products will be fined up to Rs 25,000 initially, and over Rs 50,000 after the first time.

Usage of banned plastic products at home will be fined Rs 500 for first time, and over Rs 1,000 in repeated offences. All the above penalty charges will be effective from Monday in Tamil Nadu.
