Tamil Nadu Health Minister Vijayabaskar said on Monday that the Central Government has been pressured to exempt Siddha education from NEET.
While meeting reporters in Pudukkottai, he said even after pressurising the central government, no response has been received so far. “Getting exemption of Siddha study from NEET is very challenging,” said the Minister. TN Government has spent Rs 5,900 crore so far under Amma Insurance scheme. This includes Rs 2,200 crore returned to the government hospitals.
He added, “The number of people receiving treatment in government hospitals is increasing day by day, as the infrastructure facilities of government hospitals are in par with private hospitals. The Tamil Nadu government has been active in closely monitoring the Kerala borders to prevent Nipah virus from entering Tamil Nadu.” The Minister also said that the brain fever that is prevalent in Bihar has not attacked Tamil Nadu despite many Bihar workers being employed here.
