Pondy CM opposes new ration policy 

He was in Ooty to participate in the final rites of Puducherry DGP Sundari Nanda’s mother at Kuruthukuli village. Addressing reporters at the Tamil Nadu bungalow, Narayanasamy said that the One Nation, One Ration card proposal goes against the basic tenets of federalism.

“Hence, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and other southern states are opposing the scheme,” he said. On the issue of Rahul Gandhi offering to step down from the post of party leadership, Narayanasamy said that Congress Chief Ministers met him two days ago and insisted him to change his stance.

“Congress witnessed a setback even when, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was a party president. However, again the party grew into a big force. Similarly, the party faced issues when Sonia Gandhi took over. We spoke for about two hours and we hope that he will accept to our request,” he said.

Slamming the BJP for failing to keep up its polls promises, Narayanasamy attacked the Centre for failing to retrieve black money from abroad, create two crore new jobs and waive off farmers’ loan.

 “The party has not kept any of its promises over the last five years,” Narayanasamy said.
