The protesting farmers also broke into argument with officials alleging that more water has been released for Kerala as against the PAP agreement.

As per the PAP accord, Tamil Nadu should release 19.5 tmcft of water to Kerala of which 7.25 tmcft used to be released through the Manakkadavu sluice in the Aliyar River and 12.3 tmcft from Sholayar dam. Following a massive protest, police permitted a group of ten farmers to represent their issue to PAP officials. Hence the farmers urged the official to release water to save their standing crops. A decision to this effect will be taken after consultations with the government, said the official to farmers.
