DT Next had earlier this month carried the story of the Katpadi cooperative township’s bid to take over 1.12 acres of land in Gandhinagar here reportedly belonging to the Karpaga Vinayagar temple on the claim that the property belonged to the township. Following a duel with cadre from various political parties over the issue, township officials lodged a police complaint, upon which cases were slapped on the temple officials and an RDO inquiry was ordered. Six people from both the parties in the argument were then ordered to be present before the Sub-Collector on Saturday afternoon.V Suresh Babu, a DMK functionary who accompanied cadre from other parties supporting the temple administa, said they had furnished documentary evidence before Sub-Collector Meghraj. A police official present, however, had told the participants in the meet not to undertake any construction activity on the land, which caused a commotion, Suresh added.
