Just like people voted for the DMK in the Lok Sabha poll and made them win by margins which ranged from 2 lakh to 5 lakh, in this poll too people would ensure that Kathir Anand goes to Parliament as only then would the constituency benefit, he added.

Stating that a recent survey had revealed the DMK as the party which secured the highest victory margins in the polls, he said Vellore voters would also prove this right.

Referring to various local issues, he said the work on the railway crossing at New Town was wantonly being delayed by officials. Kathir Anand, if elected, would ensure that the work gets completed in six months, he said. Only if the DMK candidate was elected would tribals in the nearby hills be able to get water, roads, power and other basic facilities, he added.

He further added that Kathir Anand was the right choice for candidate as next to Karunanidhi, it was Kathir Anand’s father Duraimurugan, who attended the legislative Assembly the most. The meeting was cut short as rain started five minutes after Stalin began speaking. At the next stop at Nimmiampattu village, Stalin said that the medical aspirations of rural folk were dashed then the present ruling dispensation accepted NEET though former chief minister J Jayalalithaa when alive had opposed it vehemently.

Earlier in the day, Stalin walked around various parts of Vaniyambadi town and interacted with local residents and allowed the youth the click selfies with him.
