Valuables stolen from ex-HM’s house

Burglars looted 50 sovereigns of gold jewels and Rs two lakh in cash by breaking open a locked house of a retired head mistress in Tirupur district.

The incident came to light when the retired headmistress Sadhira Banu, 60 and her husband Ubayadullah returned home after a two-day visit to Kerala on Monday morning.


The elderly couple had gone to their relative’s house in Kerala. On their return in morning, Sadhira was shocked to find the doors of her house at ‘Chinnakadai’ street in Dharapuram being broken open. Also the bureau was broken and 50 sovereigns of gold jewels, Rs two lakhs in cash had gone missing from it.


On receiving a complaint, the Dharapuram police rushed to the spot and held inquiries. As there were no CCTV cameras, police could not obtain the image of the suspects. Finger print experts and a sniffer dog were pressed into service.


The Dharapuram police have registered a case and are on the lookout for culprits.
