Even as intensified protests against the CAA, NPR and NCR were going on, a group of seven persons had made a door to door visit, claiming to market children food items.

“When some women intended to buy their products, they allegedly asked for details, including Aadhaar card, voters ID and if their children were vaccinated. On suspicion, the women informed other residents, who began to gather at the place. Of the seven persons, three got scared and managed to slip away from the crowd,” police said.

However, the public got hold of four others, including two women, and questioned their motive behind asking ID proof. On receiving information, the Ukkadam police rushed to the spot and rescued the four persons from the clutches of the public.

Inquiries with them revealed that they were only working in a private firm selling children’s products. They had asked for ID proof to sell their items on monthly instalments. Following this, the police letthem go away.
