Besides suggesting unscientific cures, Baskar, a self-proclaimed medical practitioner in an audio clip, has said that the illuminati will isolate people affected by coronavirus and eliminate them to reduce the population.

He also termed the spread of coronavirus as a conspiracy by world countries to reduce the population. More over, Baskar suggested fake remedies to cure the deadly infection. After his series of audio clips went viral on the social media, the Deputy Director of Public Health in Coimbatore district G Ramesh Kumar petitioned the police seeking action against Baskar.

The Kuniamuthur police registered a case against Baskar under IPC Sections 153 A for promoting enmity between different groups on ground of religion, race, place of birth, residence and language, 504 for intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace and 505 (i) for issuing statements conducing to public mischief.

This arrest comes barely a few months after he was held for promoting naturalistic child birth at home by organising a training programme. Baskar is running NISTAI International Life Style Training Centre at Kovaipudur and has been famous for his self-styled healing sessions across Tamil Nadu.

Similarly, the Erode police arrested three persons identified as Vasudevan, 25, Kamalesh, 20 and Varadaraj, 35 for spreading rumours on the spread of COVID-19 in WhatsApp with an intention to trigger panic among the public. The police tracked the source of the WhatsApp message and arrested the culprits on Friday.
