Monitoring officers appointed for 33 districts
In the wake of rapid spread of COVID-19, State government on Thursday appointed 33 senior officials as monitoring officers for the districts other than Chennai and its three neighbouring districts.

According to the GO, they would coordinate with the district administration on COVID-19 works and suggest microlevel strategies to fight the spread of the pandemic.
As Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Chengalpattu are entering complete lockdown, large numbers of people returning to their native districts, increasing the risk of spread.
Among the top officials, Agriculture Secretary Gagandeep Singh Bedi would be the monitoring official for Cuddalore, Beela Rajesh Commercial Taxes and Registration Secretary for Krishnagiri, Municipal Administration Secretary Harminder Singh would be for Coimbatore.
