Tiruchy girl burning case: Cops rule out role of outsiders

DIG (Tiruchy Range) Z Anne Vijaya while talking to reporters here on Wednesday said that the CCTV footage was so clear and there was no possibility of outsider movement in the village and so there is no chance of the involvement of the outsiders in the case as claimed by a few locals.

Futher the special team members have picked up a few of her friends with whom she had been in contact and a detailed inquiry was being carried out.

Meanwhile, the DIG denied any link with the youth who had reportedly tattooed the initials of the deceased. “We cannot go by hearsay from people without verifying facts. The tattoo is just an abbreviation an could mean anything”, she stressed.

Detailing the progress in the probe into the death of the 14-year-old girl, the DIG said, the reports confirmed that the death was caused by burns and so the special teams have visited the spot and conducted inquiries with parents, friends and relatives of the deceased. “On Tuesday, the police organised a combing operation at the spot and continued the investigation suspecting it to be a case of suicide or homicide”, said Annie Vijaya.

Police are also in the process of probing in the angle of suicide or homicide, she claimed and added that the teams have almost completed the investigation.
