ANS Prasad, president, state BJP media cell told DT Next that the AIADMK government is not giving due publicity to Centre’s schemes and they do not disclose the funds sanctioned by the Centre for coronavirus relief works and economic revival.

For instance, the BJP-led Centre has distributed loans to MSMEs to a tune of Rs 6,000 crore to revive the economy, but this is sidelined. Again the Union government through Jal Jeevan scheme has allocated Rs 2,363 crore for the state to provide one crore drinking water connections in rural areas, but again this project is not given due publicity, Prasad said.

The BJP had also started a complaint campaign against “Karuppar Kuttam,” a social media channel that has been uploading defamatory and derogatory remarks against Hindu gods and mythology and is urging the state government to take necessary action against those spreading hate speech and videos.

In Chennai, BJP legal wing secretary Paul Kanagaraj and BJP youth wing secretary Vinoj P Selvam are meeting senior police officials seeking action against the “Karuppar Kuttam.” Similarly, the party office-bearers in Coimbatore, Tirupur and Tiruchy have also lodged complaints with respective District Collectors seeking action against the organisers of YouTube channel “Karuppar Koottam,” which had made denigrating Hindu gods and hymns.

Reacting to the saffron party barbs, an AIADMK MLA said, “Though BJP has been targeting DMK for a very long time, the party is now taking steps to strengthen its foothold in the Dravidian heartland and are trying to weaken the AIADMK. Those affiliated to Dravidar Kazhagam that supports DMK are also spreading hatred towards Hinduism.”

He also pointed out that BJP president L Murugan who was silent has now recommended the virus positive ministers to lead by example by admitting themselves in government hospitals. “Getting treatment at a government hospital or a private facility is a personal matter,” the MLA noted.
