Rs 1,000 sanctioned for registered members of welfare boards
Tamil Nadu government issued two separate Government Orders (GOs) sanctioning Rs 1,000 each for members registered with various welfare boards, including Cine Workers Welfare Board.

"Rs 1,000 would be distributed as compensation for lockdown for 9,882 members registered with cine welfare board in Chennai, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu and Tiruvallur districts," Revenue Secretary Atulya Misra said in the GO.
Ever since lockdown was imposed due to COVID-19 pandemic, the film industry had come to a grinding halt. Earlier, the government had announced compensation of Rs 2,000 each for members of cine welfare board, similar to members of other welfare boards.
For the first and second tranches of compensation of Rs 2,000 each to 21,679 members of cine welfare board, the government had sanctioned Rs 4.33 crore. Then Rs 1,000 per head was sanctioned exclusively for members of cine welfare boards in Chennai and three neighbouring districts.
Through another GO, the State government sanctioned Rs 1,000 each for members of five other welfare boards. This included Rs 6.56 lakh sanctioned for 656 members of Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Board, Rs 5.01 lakh for 501 Folk Artistes Welfare Board members, and Rs 27.97 lakh for 2,797 Scavengers Welfare Board members in Chennai, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu and Tiruvallur.
However, in the case of Transgender Welfare Board and Traders Welfare Board, the dole will be granted to 1,666 registered transpersons and 366 traders attached to the boards across the State, and Rs 16.66 lakh and Rs 3.66 lakh respectively have been sanctioned for this.
