Thanjavur residents resort to sapling planting protest seeking repair of road

The residents of Magarnonbu Chavadi, Chinna Arisikara Theru and Chakkarakulam have been demanding a tar road in their locality for the past few years. Since rain lashed in the district for the past few days, the particular mud road had turned into a slushy surface. On Thursday, the residents who gathered at the road planted saplings condemning the condition of the road which has been used by around six residential colonies in the area. They said that they have been fighting for tar roads for the past few years but still, the officials pay no heed to their demands. They also said that they plan to take the protest at a bigger level if their demand was not fulfilled.
