Tamil Nadu reports a drop in COVID infections, death toll continues to see a spike

Tamil Nadu recorded 5,881 new COVID-19 positive cases, taking the tally of coronavirus infected to 2.45 lakh.

The COVID positive cases reported in Tamil Nadu on Friday was 5,881 taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 2,45,859. The state saw its highest-single-day death toll as 97 people succumbed to the virus.

The death toll in the state stands at 3,935, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The reports also said that 5,778 patients were cured and discharged today.

The capital city Chennai is witnessing a mild decrease in the number of COVID-19 cases with the city reporting 1,013 cases on Friday.
