Covid-19 recoveries surpass new positive cases in Tamil Nadu, 100+ fatalities reported

A total of 6,005 Covid-19 recovered patients were discharged from various hospitals in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday while 5,834 persons tested positive for the virus over the past 24 hours, said the State Health Department.

According to the state health ministry, as many as 2,50,680 persons have recovered from COVID-19, which is a 81.2 percent recovery rate as on Tuesday evening. Meanwhile, more than 3.08 (3,08,649) lakh cases were reported throughout the state.

On the other hand, only 52,810 persons are under treatment in the state, which is around 17.1 per cent

The latest reports said that 118 people died in Tamil Nadu since Monday night. As per the data, 5,159 persons had died due to the virus, which is 1.7 per cent mortality rate.

Chennai city registered 986 new cases, which is 17% of total cases in the state while Coimbatore, Kanchipuram, Ranipet and Thiruvallur reported over 300 cases.
The active cases in Chennai (total tally 1,11,054) stands at 11,130 while 1,108 persons were discharged on Tuesday. 23 of the 118 deaths were reported in the state capital.
Tamil Nadu has tested 33,60,450 samples and 32,40,339 people so far, according to the media bulletin issued by the Directorate of Public Health.
The number of Covid-19 cases between the age of 0-12 has risen to 15,113 in the state.
