Tamil Nadu: 4 million Covid-19 samples tested so far
Tamil Nadu on Friday recorded 5,995 new cases of COVID-19, including 27 imported cases from other states and countries. With this, the total number of cases in Tamil Nadu has reached 3,67,430.

The number of patients who have been cured of Covid has reached 3.07 lakh in Tamil Nadu since the pandemic outbreak in March.
On Friday, 5,764 patients were cured and discharged from hospital. The rate of patients getting cured is at 83.7 per cent.
A total of 101 deaths were reported in Tamil Nadu, of which 36 were in private hospitals and 65 in government hospitals. Maximum deaths were reported in Chennai - 23 casualties. The Tamil Nadu toll stands at 6,340. Of the total deaths, Chennai accounts for 2,557.
Currently, 53,413 persons are under treatment (including isolation) in the state.
While Chennai continued its spike and reported 1,282 cases, senior officials from the Health Department said relaxations in the movement of people across the State has contributed to the increased cases in the city and this could see a further surge as the number of returnees are also on the rise.
Chengalpattu recorded highest number of cases after Chennai with 430 cases on Friday. Coimbatore continued to report high cases with 395 new ones followed by Tiruvallur with 369 infections. Several other districts including Cuddalore, Kancheepuram and Salem reported more than 200 cases of COVID-19 on Friday.
The active cases in Chennai stands at 12,708 while 886 persons were discharged on Friday.
Tamil Nadu has tested 40,62,943 samples and 39,23,834 people so far, according to the media bulletin issued by the Directorate of Public Health.
The number of Covid-19 cases between the age of 0-12 has risen to 17,484 in the state.
