BJP can win 60 seats on its own, claims State chief Murugan

The BJP would definitely win at least 60 seats in the upcoming assembly polls even if it contests alone, said L Murugan, president of the state unit of the party, here on Monday.

Political observers feel Murugan through his statement has conveyed the number of seats his party would like to be allotted be it in any alliance.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the BJP youth wing executive committee meeting, he said that the BIP had has grown to remarkable heights in the state.

“At least 60 candidates would be fielded in assembly in the upcoming elections. Even if we face the election alone, we will all these 60 seats,” he stressed.

He said that the alliance between the AIADMK and BJP was intact and there was no difference of opinion, he said.

Conveying that a decision on who would lead the alliance would be taken later, he said the BJP high command would take a stand on the issue at the appropriate time.

Stating that anyone was welcome to join the BJP, the state unit chief said that his party would keep a watch on the activities of every cadre, and “if a person’s activities are not satisfactory, the party will definitely initiate action against him or her.”

Urging the parties of Tamil Nadu not to politicise the three-language formula proposed in the NEP, Murugan said the schools administered by the DMK people teach several languages and the BJP youth wing members have decided to stage protests in front of such schools to expose their double stance.
