This was more than 80 per cent of the registered candidates, substantially higher than the 50 per cent attendance that was recorded during the JEE examination that was held just a couple of weeks ago. In all, 6,958 of the 8,370 applicants – 83.1 per cent – attended the exam, said officials. There were 15 exam centres in Vellore and Ranipet, where those from Tiruvannamalai, too, attended the test. To take the candidates from Tiruvannamalai, which did not have any centres, to Vellore and Ranipet, Collector KS Kandasamy arranged two buses that left on Sunday Morning. Of the 347 from the district who had applied, only 105 attended the test. All were from government higher secondary schools, officials said. In all, 568 candidates wrote the exam at the two centres in Ranipet district, while 1,800 were present at the two centres at Yelagiri hills and Vaniyambadi.
