A farmer named Arjunan (62 years old), visited the Dindugal Collectorate on Tuesday afternoon. As per Government procedure, a public grievance day will be conducted across all the collectorates in the State. Also, there is a petition drop box is also available in the entrance of the office where the public can drop in their grievance petitions to be addressed in the grievance day.

Accordingly, Arjunan had arrived at the collectorate with a pile of papers. Just when he was about to drop the petition, he drooled and collapsed.

The police on guard rushed him to the nearby Government Hospital where Arjunan was pronounced dead. The initial inquiry revealed that Arjunan had consumed poison and had died by suicide before his arrival to the collectorate.

With the documents(Aadhar card copy) and grievance petitions, it was found that Arjunan was a farmer based Devadhanapatti near Theni district, had obtained a housing loan sum of Rs 15 lakhs from private financing agency.

After repaying nearly 6.5 lakhs, he couldn't repay for 3 further instalments. After a few months, when Arjunan had approached the financing firm to pay his instalment, he was levied with an additional fine charge apart from the instalment amount.

Arjunan was also threatened by the firm's officials that his house will have to be attached if defaulted. Further a civil case was also filed against Arjunan for defaulting. Heartbroken Arjunan, approached the Dindugal Collectorate to find a legal solace for his ongoing tussle. Unfortunately, he ended his life before his grievance petition could be addressed.

Thadikombu police have filed a case and have started an enquiry. Arjunan is survived by a wife and sons.
