Further taking a dig at the DMK, he said it’s the party, which could scuttle the relationship of its allies anytime and go even to an extent selling its dignity for the sake of seats to enjoy high positions.

Cooperation Minister Sellur K Raju said that the DMK is holding talks with the BJP to form an alliance for the Assembly polls, but the opposition party is spreading slander that the AIADMK is in alliance with the BJP. The Minister was speaking while taking part in Santhanakoodu festival at Goripalayam Dargah in Madurai on Tuesday night.
He said though parties form alliances, it’s different from principles of the party. It was the DMK, which forged an alliance with the BJP at first and enjoyed prominent positions in politics at the state and the Centre. Further taking a dig at the DMK, he said it’s the party, which could scuttle the relationship of its allies anytime and go even to an extent selling its dignity for the sake of seats to enjoy high positions. Unlike the DMK, he said the AIADMK would maintain friendly relations with its allies forever not only for the sake of maintaining alliance and would not show itself to be indifferent to parties breaking the alliance.
Further speaking at the function, he said the ruling AIADMK would always be supportive of the minorities and protect their interests. The government led by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami had earlier increased the monthly pension for the ulemas (Muslim scholars) from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000 this year, he said.
