2 priests of Mayiladuthurai temple arrested for stealing silver plates
Two temple priests were arrested on charges of stealing 15 kg silver plates from the palanquin of the presiding deity of Mayiladuthurai Sri Parimala Ranganathar Temple.

The idol wing police also recovered the stolen silver plates. In August 2014, the silver ‘padichattam’ of the palanquin went missing. A case was registered. Venkatraman from Chennai submitted a petition with the idol wing police that the stolen silver plates were replaced with new ones and he suspected the temple staff’s involvement in it. Subsequently, the case was reopened and idol wing registered a case against R Srinivasa Ranga Bhattar and V Muralidhara Dikshidar and arrested them.
