TIRUCHY: In order to get the attention of the District Collector to his petition against pig menace, a social activist turned up in Lord Yama costume in Karur on Monday.
The activist Pon Muthukumar from Kadampankurichi in Karur came with the costume of Lord Yama and approached the District Collector with the petition to curb the pig menace in his locality.
According to Muthukumar, there are over 100 families residing at the particular village, but a few persons had encroached the public utility spots and rearing pigs, which posed a health threat. The children are scared as the pigs often chase them away whenever they come out of their houses.
He said that the people from the village submitted a petition with the Chief Minister’s Special Cell on May 20 and on May 23, they submitted a petition with the District Collector, but no action has been initiated yet.
The frustrated Muthukumar claimed that he had decided to wear the costume of the Lord Yama for at least to get the attention of the Collector to put an end to pig menace.
