COIMBATORE: An injured slender loris was rescued and treated by the Forest Department in Coimbatore on Thursday.
Some members of the Special Task Force (STF) noticed the slender loris with a bleeding injury on its forearm along the Athikadavu River near Velliangadu forest area. They immediately rescued the animal and handed it over to the Forest Department officials.
The slender loris was then taken to the avian recuperation centre and expert veterinarians performed a surgery on its injury. The animal was also fed with medicine and antibiotics for its wound to heal.
Slender loris is an endangered species listed under Schedule I of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
