The engineers at Facebook are yet to unveil a new camera app which is believed to be developed to revive sharing original content again. The app has included features like live streaming and the ability to directly control the mainframe of the camera to capture images and videos, according to the Wall Street Journal report.

To improve the primary functionality and features, Facebook is integrating MSQRD, an app that produces live filters on selfies which was reportedly bought by Facebook on March 2016.

MSQRD is available on the App Store and Google Play, and the technology will soon be coming to Facebook. This follows Facebook's recent moves to make its photo features more playful, adding stickers, doodles, and filters.

Facebook hasn't revealed how much it paid for MSQRD app but both companies have expressed enthusiasm in moving forward with the partnership. Facebook has faced many failures in previous years in its process of developing an innovative app. Slingshot, Riff and many others turned out to be disappointing.

Facebook’s Messenger is the only mobile platform alive, since it was forced upon its users after the company removed the chat functions from the primary app. With the company facing issues in user engagement, the camera app could improve Facebook’s reach to its users in the mobile platform. WSJ's sources say that there's a chance this new app will never be released, but the move would make sense for Facebook, especially if sharing really is on the decline.
